Dans «Vasos Retratos» on est vraiment ailleurs dans le temps et l’espace. Avant Colomb, les premières nations développaient leur culture par la tapisserie, l’érection de pyramides et en façonnant la terre.

Au-delà de l’utilitaire, les vases et autres poteries devenaient des véhicules de représentation symbolique et bien souvent l’occasion de portraiturer. Ce type de vase-portrait se retrouve, entres autres, dans les civilisations de la côte ouest de l’Amérique du sud: Tiwanaku, Moche, Nazca, Wari, etc.

Ces vases nous font voyager dans l’imaginaire autochtone et dans le monde des esprits.

Mon univers est «poémagogique»:

Les vases constituant le vaisseau pédagogique via l’anthropologie.

L’arrière-plan invention pure improvisation permettant une élucubration visuelle poétique.

Et en 3ième lieu, une interprétation libre de la symbolique récurrente dans la tapisserie et l’architecture précolombienne agissant comme contrepoint au fond et à la forme.

 

 

In ¨Vasos Retratos¨ we really are elsewhere in time and space. In pre-Colombian times, the first nations had developed their culture through tapestry, architecture and pottery.

Beyond the utilitary, the potter created a vase and told a story through symbolic representation and often the vase was a portrait. This type of vase-portrait pottery was practised, among others, by the west coast civilizations of south America: Tiwanaku, Moche, Nazca, Wari, etc.

Through these vases we penetrate the pre-Colombian imaginary and the world of spirits.

My universe is ¨poemagogical¨:

Vases being the pedagogical vessel of anthropology.

Background of pure invention therefore a poetical, visual and perhaps wild imagining.

And thirdly, a free interpretation of recurrent symbols found in pre-Columbian architecture and tapestry that acts as a counterpoint to form and ground.
